Enclosed please find the preliminary program and registration form for our Section's 37th annual meeting January 18, 19 and 20, 2012 at The Crowne<= /span> Plaza Irvine, 17941 Von Karman Avenue, Irvine, CA.
Please return= your registration form and checks to me as soon as possible to arrive not la= ter than December 18, 2011. The Executive Committee voted to charge a 10% late fee for registrations received after that date. Remember mail delivery during the holiday season often is slow.
We must provide the hotel with a “head count” and pay one-half the cost for meals prior to the meeting and registrations determine our meeting room size.
Important Notice: The deluxe continental breakfast, morning and afternoon breaks, both lunches and the banquet are included in = the registration fee(s) as indicated on the enclosed registration form.
Registration fees are calculated solely on t=
he
cost of meals, so if not registered for the Thursday and Friday meet=
ing,
breakfast and lunch must be purchased in the coffee shop/dining room or a l=
ocal
venue.
We contracted with The Crowne Plaza, 17941 Von Karman Avenue, = Irvine, CA for the 2012 meeting. We signed a contract, made the required dep= osit and secured a block of twenty (20) rooms. The meeting will be held Wedne= sday, January 18 through Friday, January 20, 2012 (i.e., the week of the Mart= in Luther King holiday).

yourself as part = of the YPSW-AIHA group attending the Jan 18-20, 2012 meeting to receive the special negotiated rate and have the reservation counted in the YPSW-AIHA room bloc= k. (Note: If you are a Priority Club Rewards member, don't forget to give them your number to earn points for the stay.) The hotel will also accept pre and post extensions of three days at = the group rate in a limited capacity; check on availability when making your ho= tel reservations. An advance deposit or credit card guarantee for the first night’s room and tax are required for o= ur group negotiated rates by January 4, 2012; after that date rooms wil= l be on a space and rate availability basis.
Registration starts at 3:30 PM Wednesday, January 18 followed by the 4:00 PM business meeting at which time election of officers will be held. The positions of President-Elect and one Director are open; the Executive Committee has nominated Frank Hearl for President-Elect and Pat Brogan for Director. Of course, nominations from the floor are always welcomed at the business meeting. Any member of the YPSW Se= ction, regardless of geographic location is welcome to volunteer; although officer= s must be members of national AIHA, Directors do not need to be AIHA members.
Remember, ABIH grants Certification Maintenance (CM) P= oints for attendance (0.5 IH CM p= oint per 0.5 day). The program has = been forwarded to ABIH for review and certification.
Program Chairman, President-Elect Bob Glenn, has devel= oped an outstanding program with interesting speakers. His theme “New Frontiers in Industri= al Hygiene” is very well planned, interesting and educational and sure to = be well received by participants. Complete mailing addresses for speakers have been provided to the Secretary-Treasurer for the non-YPSW speakers – confirmation letters will be sent out to each speaker this week along with a complete registration package. A final program, incorporating any changes, = will be printed on colored paper for the actual meeting.
The technical program begins on Thursday at 8:30 AM, w= ith a continental breakfast at 8:00 AM, and breaks included in the meeting room, = then a group lunch included at the hotel. Small group discussions are planned for 1:00 to 5:30 PM. For those not participating in these discussions the afternoon will be leisure time – you can visit the local ma= lls or beaches, etc. Friday’s technical program begins at 8:30 AM, with a continental breakfast at 8:00 AM, and bre= aks included in the meeting room, then a group lunch included at the hotel, and reconvene at 1:00 PM for the full afternoon session. The meeting will concl= ude, as usual, with our Friday night banquet.

Breaks on Thursday and Friday will be morning coffee/t= ea service refresh; in the afternoon assorted freshly baked goodies, assorted sodas and mineral waters, coffee/tea will be offered – unused afternoon bre= ak items will be delivered to the Hospitality Suite.
