Dear Member:
Enclosed please find the preliminary program and registration form for our Section's 38th annual meeting January 23, 24 and 25, 2013 The Bahia Resort Hotel, 998 West Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109.
I know this is a short turnaround time, but please return your registration form and che= cks to me as soon as possible to arrive not later than December 23, 2012. Remember mail delivery during the holiday season often is slow. On-site registrations will be assessed a 10% late registration fee to cover “up charges” by the hotel.
We must provide the hotel with a “head count” for lunc= hes and banquet and pay one-half the cost for meals by Jan 11, 2013; registrati= ons determine our meeting and dining room size.
Important Notice: The deluxe continental breakfast,
morning and afternoon breaks, both lunches and the banquet are included in =
the
registration fee(s) as indicated on the enclosed registration form. =
This means if you are planning to attend=
only
the banquet, but wish to have lunch with the group there is a separate cost
entry for the Thursday and Friday lunch – be sure to include those fees as
appropriate.
As a reminder, our registration fees are calculated=
SOLELY
on the cost of meals – we do not charge for attending technical sessions.
I know I sent this information before, but reiterating= in case your previous letter got “lost”.
The 2013 annual meeting will be held at The Bahia Resort Hotel, 998 West Mission Bay Drive, San D= iego, CA 92109. The contract was signed, and a $3,500,00 deposit was made to secu= re a block of twenty-five (25) rooms. The meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan= uary 23 through Friday, January 25, 2013 (i.e., the week of the Martin Luther King holiday).

Please note that all sessions will be held on the anch= ored William D. Evans Sternwheeler. My = hotel contact said the meeting rooms listed might change depending on the number = of attendees. Rooms marked TBA should= be assigned when I print the final program. We will have signs posted directing you to the appropriate rooms. All meeting rooms are on Level One, lunches will be on Level Two.
Program Chairman, President-Elect Frank Hearl developed an outstanding program with the theme “In the IH Toolbox: Risk Assessment”. This well planned program promises to be very interesting = and educational - and certain to be well received. Be sure to check out the speakers and topics on the enclosed prelimi= nary program.
Remember, ABIH grants Certification Maintenance (CM) P= oints for attendance (0.5 IH CM p= oint per 0.5 day). ABIH no longer r= eviews programs for CM Points, therefore, ABIH is not issuing any new CM approval numbers; instead, CIHs are now responsible to calculate their own CM point values and list them on their worksheets. Confirmation letters will be sent to each speaker this= week along with a complete registration package. A final program, incorporating = any changes, will be printed on colored paper for the actual meeting.
Registration starts at 3:30 PM Wednesday, January 23 followed by the 4:00 PM business meeting at which time election of officers will be held. The positions of President-Elect and one Director are open; the Executive Committee has nominated Del Malzahn for President-Elect and S= teve Davis for Director. Nominations fr= om the floor are always welcomed at the business meeting. Any member of the YPSW Section, regardl= ess of geographic location is welcome to volunteer; although officers must be memb= ers of national AIHA, Directors do not need to be AIHA members.
The technical program begins on Thursday at 8:30 AM, w= ith a continental breakfast at 7:30 AM, and AM & PM breaks included in the meeting room; with a group lunch 12:15-1:15 PM at the hotel. The program will resume at 1:15 PM with= a full afternoon session and conclude prior to the hospitality room opening at 5:30 PM.
Friday’s technical program begins at 8:30 AM, with a continental breakfast at 7:30 AM, and AM & PM breaks in the meeting roo= m; with a group lunch 12:15-1:30 PM at the hotel. We will reconvene at 1:30 PM= for the full afternoon session. The hospitality suite opens at 5:30 PM for pre-dinner libations. The meeting = will conclude, as usual, with our Friday night banquet.

Ple= ase do not overlook selecting your banquet entrée, (and lunches, if appropriate) a= s we must provide the hotel a count for each lunch and number of each banquet en= trée along with payment for one-half the cost of meals.

tenderloin grilled medium rare with Bordelaise sauce, served with garlic
whipped potatoes. Atlantic Salmon grilled with mango cream and fruit salsa,

seasonal dessert, beverage choice of coffee or tea. Wines: courtesy of Steven C. Davi=
s, LaCroix, Davis, LLC will be served with dinner.
REMINDER: Make your hotel reservations as soon as possible, if needed, we will request additional rooms at the group rate. Call The Bahia Resort Hotel at (8= 00)-576-4229 or (858) 488-0551 (Hotel Operator). Whichever number you use you must identify yourself as part of the YPSW-AIHA group attending the Jan 23-25, 2= 013 meeting to receive the special negotiated rate and have the reservation cou= nted in the YPSW-AIHA room block. An advance deposit or credit card guarantee for the first night’s room and tax= is required for our group negotiated rates by December 24, 2012; after t= hat date rooms will be on a space and rate availability basis. (Individual reservations will automatically be billed for one night unless cancelled 72 hours prior to scheduled arrival.)
